On the season finale of “Mama June: Family Crisis”, Mama June Shannon and her boyfriend Geno Doak both agreed to complete a 30 day stay in rehab at Banyan Stuart thanks to the help of her manager Gina.
* During their stay, Geno and June wouldn’t see one another during the entire program.
Throughout the episode, we see June reveal that her and Geno spent $150k on cocaine and have even done ecstasy. While Mama June admits that had a “really, really bad” cocaine habit, she couldn’t admit during her therapy session that she was an addict. “I have an addictive personality and let’s just leave it at that for right now,” she said.

Mama June’s Drug Addiction
Mama June’s drug use was affecting her kidney and her liver. Additionally, her addiction to crack cocaine was causing her to lose her vision as well. As her therapy session continued, the therapist explained to June that the first step to getting better is to admit that you are an addict. Mama June has made drugs a priority over everything in her life, but the fact that she was now making the choice to put her health first so she can get her family back is a huge step.
Mama June and Geno successfully completed Inpatient Treatment in Stuart, Florida and during June’s exit interview, she finally admitted that she was an addict! “My addiction to crack cocaine, cocaine, I didn’t think I was an addict. Now that we’re ready to leave, I am definitely an addict,” June says. She can now be added to the list of celebrities that are recovering addicts.
After the season finale aired, Mama June took to social media to share she now has 5 months sober, which is a huge accomplishment. Here at Banyan, we wish her nothing but continued success. This is a huge milestone and Mama June’s sobriety is proof that recovery is possible.
We are so proud of Mama June for getting sober. Addiction doesn’t discriminate; it doesn’t care if you’re a TV star or a mother. If your family member is struggling with a cocaine addiction, Banyan Stuart offers medically monitored detox. Admitting that you are an addict is challenging, but it’s the first step to getting on the path to recovery.
