Banyan Treatment Centers believes that drug and alcohol abuse as well as mental illness cannot be treated with a “one-size-fits-all” method. The impact of addiction is boundless, affecting people from all walks of life and social classes. As such, treatment approaches must be tailored to fit the specific needs of the suffering person, addressing unhealthy behaviors that influence substance abuse and cultivating lasting solutions that encourage change. This is why each of our Banyan locations offers a variety of ancillary services and treatment programs that aim to effectively tackle the patient’s condition and teach them more healthy behaviors moving forward.

What Are Ancillary Services in Rehab?

Ancillary services provide essential support to primary activities or operations. At Banyan, our ancillary treatments consist of supplementary methods designed to enhance our main substance abuse programs. These additional programs address the underlying psychological factors of addiction, and any stress patients may experience during treatment. Administered by expert clinicians, our ancillary services ensure the highest quality of care possible.

Our ancillary drug and alcohol programs have been highly beneficial for many individuals seeking addiction treatment. These programs equip patients with skills to manage addiction cravings and triggers effectively, preparing them for life after rehab.

Banyan’s master's-level clinicians utilize various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Grief Therapy. These methods are often used alongside a 12-step philosophy or SMART Recovery.

In addition to traditional behavioral health treatments, our nationwide alcohol and drug rehab center offers various ancillary programs and holistic therapies. This combination provides Banyan patients with a unique and effective treatment experience, focusing not only on the symptoms of addiction but also on improving overall quality of life and preparing them for life outside of rehab.

Holistic Ancillary Services We Provide

We recognize that substance use and co-occurring disorders are merely a symptom of a much more significant issue. Banyan Treatment Centers prides itself on offering individualized treatment services that focus on the complexity of this disease and offer solutions that foster sustained recovery.

Reiki Therapy

Commonly referred to as “energy healing,” this holistic treatment is known to reduce pain, enable relaxation, relieve emotional stress, and aid in the relief of other physical symptoms due to illness. Reiki benefits the participants by targeting energy fields around the body, helping the flow of energy and removing blocked energy, similar to acupuncture. This calming practice has risen in mainstream popularity over the past few years and is renowned for its uses as an ancillary service for people suffering from a variety of physical and mental illnesses aside from just addiction.

Massage & Acupuncture

Although scientific research surrounding the topic is still relatively scarce, utilizing acupuncture for addiction has been practiced since the 1970s, when a Chinese physician by the name of Dr. H. L. Wen found it to help relieve withdrawal symptoms experienced from opioid addiction. Offered at several of our locations, patients can take advantage of massage therapy and acupuncture during their treatment stay. Many Banyan patients have found these holistic therapies to be beneficial throughout their rehab experience, aiding in both withdrawal symptoms and emotional stress.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)

A scientifically proven efficacious treatment, EMDR therapy enables individuals to heal from traumatic events and/or emotional turmoil, which is the result of disturbing life experiences. Alongside PTSD and other trauma-based diagnoses, this practice has shown to be extremely beneficial for substance abuse and mental health patients. In this eight-phase treatment, EMDR therapists assist patients in activating their natural healing processes within the mind by utilizing a combination of protocols, therapeutic elements, and eye movements.

Music & Art Therapy

Both art and music therapy have been shown to assist in the treatment and recovery experience. Individuals who suffer from addiction can utilize these therapeutic approaches to express their emotions in a healthy way, where they have otherwise been unable to.

Our treatment team utilizes these modalities to continuously provide patients with every possible healing strategy. Art and music therapy have been proven to help reduce stress, alleviate anxiety, and foster creativity and motivation. We also hope that you can leave our facilities with a new hobby of two.

Biofeedback

An innovative treatment approach, biofeedback, is now offered at every Banyan location nationwide. By inducing a meditative state through vibration, guided imagery, and music therapy, biofeedback addresses underlying issues of anxiety, depression, and trauma. This therapeutic modality has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, alleviate painful withdrawal symptoms, and overcome negative thoughts and feelings surrounding traumatic life events.

Yoga

Yoga plays an influential role in the recovery process, as it addresses addiction as a three-fold disease. Alongside the many physical health benefits, yoga brings balance to the individual’s life on a mental and spiritual level. Through the consistent practice of yoga, patients experience increased energy, improved cardio and respiratory health, increased physical strength, and mental clarity, decreased stress and anxiety, and improved coping skills.

Why Choose a Holistic Drug Rehab?

While many other rehabs focus solely on stopping drug use, this does little to promote long-term success in sobriety. The best way to see lasting improvement in recovery and avoid relapse, in the long run, is to find holistic treatment for drug addiction. This type of program allows the patient to heal and learn the best way to move forward.

Holistic drug treatment programs go beyond traditional addiction treatment programs. They focus on the connection between the addiction and the patient’s mind, body, and soul. Not only will the patient work to stop their body’s dependence on harmful substances, but they will also focus on what led them to addiction in the first place and how to create a better future for themselves free from drugs and alcohol.
