LSD and Alcohol

LSD and Alcohol

LSD (d-lysergic acid diethylamide) is a psychedelic drug known as acid. The drug is derived from ergot alkaloids which produce psychedelic effects. The fungus is found growing on wheat and other plant parts like in the seeds of the Morning Glory. Typically, people use the drug to experience hallucinations, but LSD and alcohol can lead to serious health risks. Alcohol acts as a depressant, so people will drink to avoid severe side effects after taking acid. Alcohol may deplete the hallucinogenic effects but heighten other symptoms.

Can You Drink Alcohol With Acid?

Drinking on LSD often creates fear, paranoia, aggression, or sudden erratic behavior. Acid and alcohol don’t go hand in hand, and often people will take the drug after drinking for an extended period. Alcohol mixed with LSD can inflict relaxation, but it also encourages people to drink more which can lead to alcohol poisoning. Technically, you can use LSD and alcohol together, though it may lead to worsening the adverse side effects that both substances can produce separately.

LSD and Alcohol Effects

When a person mixes the substances, then a person can experience a “bad trip” or undergo frightening delusions or hallucinations. In addition, a person increases their chance of overdose or alcohol poisoning. Commonly, people will become unconscious and dehydrated due to mixing LSD and alcohol.

Side effects of LSD include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Tremors
  • Sleepiness
  • Hallucinations
  • Dilated pupils
  • Loss of appetite
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Profuse sweating
  • High blood pressure
  • Increased body temperature

“Drinking acid” or mixing the substances can cause the acid and alcohol reaction to be intense and terrifying. A person can experience an LSD hangover, which can cause painful headaches, sleeping problems, and more. LSD, like alcohol, establishes a tolerance to be built quickly. It’s important for a person to seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms are heightened due to alcohol.
