Miley Cyrus Celebrated 4 Months of Sobriety In October

If you’ve been keeping up with Miley Cyrus over the past couple of years, then you are no stranger to her party girl ways and lyrics in her music that allude to drug use.

Back in August, Miley opened up about her past drug use on her Twitter. “It’s no secret that I was into partying in my teens and early 20’s. I have not only smoked, but advocated for weed, I’ve experimented with drugs, my biggest song to date is about dancing on molly and snorting lines in the bathroom,” Cyrus says, referencing her song from 2013, “We Can’t Stop.”  Back in 2013, Miley said in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine that molly was a happy, social drug.

Miley Cyrus is Four Months Sober

Since her split from her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, Miley has found sobriety and is sharing that healthier lifestyle with boyfriend Cody Simpson. The 22-year-old Australian singer is also four months sober. “We keep each other in a good place. That’s what’s really healthy about it and I think that’s the first time I’ve had that in a relationship. We’re very, very much on the same page,” says Simpson. Now that she is sober, Miley says, “It’s the best I’ve ever felt. I’m radiating.”

We are happy to see that Miley is taking the opportunity to use her platform to discuss her sobriety and to be so open about her past struggles. Addiction does not discriminate, no matter your background. Cyrus’ transformation is especially enlightening about the power of recovery. Her public discussion of drug use and openness about her recovery shows that anyone can get and stay sober if they’re dedicated to their recovery.
