FAQs at Banyan Palm Springs

What does drug and alcohol addiction treatment consist of?

Our drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs vary from facility to facility and are customized to meet each patient’s individual needs. Following a free consultation, you will partake in a clinical assessment, during which you will be asked a series of questions that will help us place you in a recovery program that’s right for you.

At Banyan Palm Springs, we offer several levels of care, including:

    • Medically Monitored Detox
    • Intensive Inpatient Care
    • Residential Addiction Treatment
    • Partial Hospitalization Programs
    • Intensive Outpatient Programs
    • Mental Health Programs
    • Stabilization Programs
    • Alumni Programs

Our drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs are individually designed to treat the various physical and mental factors of substance abuse.

Can I have visitors while I’m in treatment?

Patient visitation policies vary from facility to facility. Visitors are not usually allowed in detox and residential treatment settings unless approved by a therapist. In the partial hospitalization program, visitors are allowed as approved by a therapist. Otherwise, visitation hours are normally held on weekends only.

Do I have to quit my job to go to rehab?

The ability to retain your current employment depends on your situation. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) does include provisions to protect some employees from termination if and when they seek professional drug or alcohol treatment. However, if you are suffering from drug addiction or alcoholism, your job, health, and relationships are already at risk. There is never a better time to take control of your addiction than right now.

Will my health insurance pay for my drug or alcohol treatment?

Most major health insurance programs include coverage for drug and alcohol treatment programs. If you are unsure, contact your health insurance company and/or refer to your policy documentation. Banyan Treatment Centers accept many major insurance carriers. Please call 844-669-4468 for a free insurance verification.

Can I use my health insurance for drug or alcohol treatment even though I just left my job?

Under COBRA (Continuation of Health Coverage), you may still be able to privately pay for and use your health insurance depending on how long you have been unemployed. You can call your former employer’s Human Resources Department to find out if you are eligible for COBRA.

What if I don’t have health insurance? Can Banyan Treatment Centers still help me?

Banyan Treatment Centers offer a private payment option for those who do not have insurance or whose insurance does not cover drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Banyan Treatment Centers also run the Roots to Recovery Scholarship Program, with which we award one free drug or alcohol treatment per month to applicants who are unable to pay for treatment on their own.

How can Banyan Treatment Centers help me overcome my addiction?

Our innovative approach to treatment for drug and alcohol abuse is not a one-size-fits-all program like you may find in many other treatment centers. Our patients will experience truly individualized care, and will be offered a variety of recovery programs for personalized treatment, including:

    • 12 Step Recovery Model
    • SMART Recovery
    • One-on-One Counseling
    • Group Therapy
    • Biofeedback
    • and More

Should I seek drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs close to home or in another state?

Getting away from the people, places, and other environmental factors that have enabled or triggered your addiction is an effective way to immerse yourself in your recovery. Do not be afraid of leaving your hometown or state, as it can often be the best way to eliminate distractions so you can best focus on your recovery and your personal growth.

Can I bring my cellphone, tablet, or laptop computer to rehab?

In most cases, you will not have access to any internet-connected devices in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse. Cameras of any kind are also prohibited. You will be allowed and encouraged to carry your cellphone with you while traveling to the treatment facility. Otherwise, phones, tablets, and computers you bring with you will be safely locked away for the duration of your stay. This policy is enforced for the safety and privacy of all patients. For more information, please see our What to Bring to Treatment list.

How can I help a loved one who needs drug & alcohol rehab?

Being supportive and honest is the first step. If your loved one is hesitant to go into treatment, Banyan Palm Springs offers Intervention Services to assist in developing a treatment plan for recovery. Other ways to help individuals who need alcohol addiction treatment or drug abuse treatment include providing financial support, assisting with making arrangements for child and pet care, helping them pack for treatment, and offering moral support.

Can I send my loved one money while they are in treatment?

Sending money for incidentals to a loved one during treatment is easy. Banyan Treatment Center Palm Springs uses the True Link Prepaid Visa® Card for purchasing personal care items or getting haircuts. You will also have control over what the money can be spent on, and you will also receive a log of purchases. Any money not spent can be sent back to you following treatment if you so desire.

What is the process for each level of care from admission to discharge?

Our drug rehabilitation process may differ based on the patient’s stage of addiction. However, typically the process is as follows:

  1. Admission & Detox – A new patient is assigned a therapist and undergoes an assessment and checkup upon admission. Medically monitored detox begins, usually lasting from 7-10 days.
  2. Residential Treatment Program – Following detox, the patient steps down to the residential level of care. Here, patients receive 24-hour medical supervision for about 14 days.
  3. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – At this stage, the patient spends approximately 30 days in PHP to redevelop skills of daily living in a communal setting with continued 24-hour support at an approved recovery residence. The patient will attend both individual and group therapy sessions. Supervised activities and coaching to learn life skills and coping mechanisms are also provided.
  4. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – Next, the patient moves to an external lifestyle where he or she may regain employment while attending 3 hours of therapy each day, 5 times per week. During this time, the patient will live in structured housing with other patients, attend 12-step meetings, group therapy sessions, and work with a sponsor.
  5. Discharge – When IOP is complete, our Case Management Team will develop a comprehensive blueprint to set the patient up for successful ongoing recovery, to include Alumni programs, sober living activities, and ongoing support.
