What Is an IOP Program?

Our intensive outpatient program is best suited for individuals who have either completed drug or alcohol detox or residential treatment and need more support or clients who need support but don’t require medical detox or residential care. IOP is also beneficial for people who can’t leave certain responsibilities behind to receive substance abuse treatment.

These individuals may have family, work, or school commitments that prevent them from entering full-time care. Similar to partial hospitalization treatment, our intensive outpatient rehab is the best choice for people who are busy outside of our facility but want to work on their sobriety. Not only are they able to receive the support of our counselors and therapists, but they’ll also be able to work on their relationships and create a strong support system at home.

Our Intensive Outpatient Rehab Programs for Veterans

Clients at our Veterans IOP rehab can expect to undergo several hours of individual and group therapy counseling each week. They’re also encouraged to join our 12-step programs so they can work with our sponsors and receive motivation from others in the recovery community.

Considering the unique experiences that veterans have gone through, our Philly drug rehab incorporated a Veterans in Recovery program with services that are unique to their needs. By incorporating services that are catered to veterans’ needs, like our IOP, we offer clients a space where they’re comfortable and receive adequate care.

Our Veterans IOP Rehab includes on-site medical and therapeutic sessions, as well as telehealth options. This can be especially beneficial for clients who live in remote locations or towns where adequate addiction treatment services aren’t available.

Clients receiving intensive outpatient treatment at our facility will visit our rehab three to four times per week for several hours at a time. The specifics will vary from client to client, depending on the level of support they need. Our counselors might also incorporate some of our other unique therapy methods to make patients feel comfortable and help them progress successfully.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy focuses on the immediate problems caused by the individual’s substance use and their efforts to remain abstinent from drugs and alcohol. During these sessions, clients often dig deeper into the work done in group therapy, allowing them to understand how to apply the tips from our therapists to their daily lives. Some individuals also don’t feel comfortable speaking in groups, so individual therapy gives them the space and comfort to speak more openly.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is considered the core of most intensive outpatient rehab programs, mainly because group participation has been found to be as effective as individual therapy in treating addiction. Participation in group efforts supports clients in various ways, such as:

• Enhanced communication skills
• A new form of socialization
• Opportunity to relate to others who are in the same stage of recovery
• Reinforce health ways of interacting
• Provide a safe space to discuss recovery efforts
• Provide a forum for therapists and group leaders to pass on important information
• Assistance and guidance for others who are in the early stages of recovery
• Groups offer an environment where patients can learn positive behaviors associated with addiction recovery and practice new relapse prevention techniques
