Side Effects of Boofing LSD

Side Effects of Boofing LSD

Drug users desire to achieve intense effects from drugs, specifically LSD. The mental effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) include seeing images or hallucinations, being hypersensitive to each sense like the smell, feeling detached from the body, and experiencing euphoria. To intensify these effects rapidly, users may “booty bump” these drugs, known as boofing. But what does boofing mean? The practice of consuming drugs by inserting substances like LSD through the gluteus maximus, or the anus, is to enhance the effects of these substances. There are adverse side effects of this practice but keep reading to find out more.

The Stigma Behind Boofing Drugs

The idea of inserting drugs through a place where the sun doesn't shine seems silly, but there are other reasons why individuals choose to boof LSD. First, the stigma behind the action is heavily attached to homophobia. Most people who are not homosexual disdain so-called “butt stuff,” but there are reasons to consume LSD in this way. The method is effective by increasing the drug's bioavailability and intensity and reducing some potential risks of specific effects.

How so? The anus contains mucus membranes, which are responsible for the absorption process. Additionally, boofing LSD means the drug goes through a breakdown process in the gut and liver before entering the bloodstream, influencing metabolism and the onset time. Plus, snorting LSD can be painful, and effects from snorting or oral consumption can lead to intense nausea, which may inflict a “bad trip,” meaning the results can be harmful and cause psychological damage.

Typically, for efficient results, diluting the drug is the first step. For example, when a user dilutes the drug in water, uses a syringe (with no needle) or a lube injector, and lays on their side, keeping the tool in the anus for ten minutes, then the process is considered safer and highly effective.

Boofing Side Effects

There are dangers to boofing. Although it’s trendy and raises the effects of LSD, it can lead to health complications. The anus is sensitive, and a person using this method is at risk of microabrasions or infection. It’s essential not to use unsterile equipment or put crystal-like powder up the anus. There is a risk of damaging the rectum and intestines since boofing LSD can tear the rectal tissue or membranes.

In addition, it’s possible to block blood flow to part of the intestine and cause an unnatural death of cells in the body. If a person chooses to boof drugs, then they increase the risk of a sexually transmitted infection and increase their chances of overdosing. Suppose users are abusing the substance and enduring negative impacts on the body. In that case, a medically monitored detox is advised to avoid long-term health issues or the consequences of unconsciousness or death.

Can You OD From LSD?

Can you overdose on LSD? The chance of overdosing may increase depending on a person’s body max index (BMI), metabolism, and the amount consumed. To avoid overdose, a person using the drug should not be alone, not mix the substance with other drugs, go slow, and avoid taking a high dose at once. A typical acid trip can last from 6 to 15 hours, and lingering effects are common. A person may experience an LSD hangover, which is from the comedown and lingering effects.

LSD Drug Effects

Hallucinogens’ effects can feel liberating and even emotionally beneficial, but there is a negative to each positive. An altered sense of time or self may seem exciting, but diarrhea, agitation, and vomiting are certainly not a good time. Other LSD side effects include:

  • Anxiety
  • Seizures
  • Depression
  • Dilated pupils
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Emotional instability
  • Poor appetite or loss of weight
  • Loss of control or coordination
  • Fever or high body temperature

LSD is typically not addictive, but a person can develop a tolerance to it which may lead to long-term health complications or overdose. Residential treatment at a rehab that offers detox programs and cognitive behavioral therapy or other beneficial services can help a person refrain from drug use and avoid cognitive impairment or negative physical effects.
