Steve Glover, or “Steve-O,” was born on June 13, 1974, in London, England. However, throughout his life, he lived in Canada, Venezuela, Brazil, and Florida. While attending the University of Miami, he experienced his worst injury ever. Soon after this, he dropped out of school and was couch-surfing while taking many different drugs. From there, Stevo-O displayed many emotional and behavioral problems, leaning on drugs like Valium and alcohol. After many years, Steve-O is sober!
When Did Steve-O Get Sober?
You may know Steve-O from the famous Jackass show. But before then, he attended Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Clown College to help further his goal of becoming a professional stuntman. When he never received a callback, he moved in with two friends and sold marijuana or cannabis. After his infamous fireball stunt, a producer reached out to him, and that’s when he was on the popular MTV series and where he got his name.
How long has Steve-O been sober? Ever since his Jackass friends staged an intervention for him on March 9, 2008, the famous “professional idiot” has maintained sobriety. Before Jackass and clown college, his mom told him she would only bail him out if he were to go to rehab. He did this but quickly returned to drug abuse. It wasn’t until his friends from the show sought professional assistance did Steve-O truly consider recovery.
What Drugs Did Steve-O Take?
On the popular podcast hosted by Joe Rogan, Steve-O spoke about the drugs he took and the memories he made of the substances. Some of the drugs included ketamine, nitrous oxide, PCP, cocaine, Valium, and a variety of others. If you are wondering if Steve-O drinks alcohol today, the answer is no. Steve-O is sober and is a role model for those who suffer from addiction, displaying hope and showing that living sober is possible and worth it.
However, during the time of taking these harsh and highly addictive drugs, Stevo O was arrested on numerous occasions. Right after the 2008 drug intervention with Johnny Knoxville and other friends, he was sent to a 72-hour psych ward for displaying signs of possible suicide. He did feel inspired during this time and received medical attention necessary for recovery.
