Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Is Five Years Sober

After an arduous battle with addiction, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is celebrating 5 years of sobriety.

The Jersey Shore star celebrated this accomplishment with his wife Lauren and the staff at our Banyan Philadelphia location. It was a proud moment for Mike, as he was awarded with a plaque and a giant number-shaped cake to commemorate his achievement. Mike took to his Instagram to post about this surprise celebration and captioned, "5 years clean & Sober Today!! The best view comes from the hardest climb #proud."

The good news of Mike’s five-year sobriety comes after he and his wife announced they are expecting their first child together. Two weeks later, Mike revealed the gender with an Instagram post, “Gym Tan We’re having a Baby Boy.”

Mike Sorrentino’s sobriety journey was rough, but it serves as a beacon of hope for all who struggle with addiction. “I was in a treatment center and I was really just sort of sick and tired,” he told People. “I really wanted to be able to look in the mirror again and make myself proud.”

Although Mike was once known as a party animal, he sought help for his painkiller addiction by seeking substance abuse treatment. Now, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is five years sober and a Banyan Treatment Centers recovery advocate. He shares his experiences and addiction struggles with patients in rehab centers and with his followers on social media. Mike also has a recovery Instagram page, TheHopeDealer, where he spreads the message of hope and brings awareness to addiction.
